Death by cancer, death by overdose, drug use reference, drug use on page (forced and voluntary), murder (graphic), rape/sexual assault references (not on page or by/to the main characters), child physical abuse and child sexual abuse references (not on page or by/to the main characters), heavy grief depiction throughout the book, misgendering/coming out (repeatedly throughout the book), body dysmorphia (specifically around scars), kidnapping, religious trauma reference, PTSD (including nightmares and flashbacks).
In addition to the topics above, there is also sexual content to be mindful of including: group sex, semi-public sex, sword crossing (double vaginal penetration), orgasm denial, voyeurism, praise kink.
Please note: there is a non-binary main character, and their struggles navigating through life are shown throughout this book. If this may be difficult for you to read, please proceed with caution. The experiences depicted are not a one-size-fits-all for every non-binary person, however, many are modeled after my own lived experiences (Note: there are no hate crimes in the story, but there is intentional misgendering and dead naming)
Due to the heavy nature of some of the topics in the book (surrounding the warning above and additional topics listed in the content warnings), I have included resources in the beginning of the book should you need them. Please proceed with caution if any of the topics may be difficult to read about. This story is a beautiful one of self-discovery while navigating grief and finding love again after loss, but it is also a very heavy book with some very real emotions. You and your mental well-being will always be more important than any story.
